A handbook for new or shy girl geeks or a fun thing to laugh over for us more seasoned or older girl geeks. I really enjoyed the little side interviews with various well known ladies like Kate Beaton, Kate Leth, Erin Morganstern, and a lot more all telling everyone reading the book that a fangirl is a) far from shameful and b) is really a joyous state to be in. Sure you can have problems with whatever is in your fandom but you can address that in constructive ways too. I was often made to feel embarrassed of myself and my interests and when I was a kid at school so I'm just overjoyed that this exists at all. Fangirls aren't sad or pathetic and it really is a lot of fun most of the time. There's a how to for doing fandom on the internet, introductory feminism, and a very accessible language (in that it's internet speak that we're used to but is also defined for those who are not). It really is a great little book for the newcomer and I hope that some parts of the book maybe one day won't need to exist at all as the idea that loving something lots and engaging with it isn't shameful no matter your gender.
